Lira
A few weeks ago we were asked to take this mother and daughter duo of Springers.
Sadly, we knew that if we didn't, their future was not secure and they would continue to be used to pump out litter after litter. They both arrived with milk still in their teats having, obviously, just reared more pups. Their coats were stained with urine, they absolutely stank and their ears, especially Lira's, were infected.
Mum, Lira is 6 years old and we are looking to rehome these ladies separately.
They have known nothing of life except a back yard where they spent their days making money for their owners by producing pups. Sadly there are still people willing to ignore the sale of these backyard bred pups, happy to buy them because it's the "pup they always wanted'.
They are very sweet girls who have never known what it is like to be a pet but they are learning. They do walk on leads but, at the moment, they still tend to pull and so will need some more work on that. They are clean in their kennel and the fact that they both still eat their food off the kennel floor, and not out of a bowl, speaks volumes.
There is no doubt that Lira needs a home willing to be patient as she adapts to home living and the outside world. But she is so deserving of that chance. She is a typical Springer who loves a good run around, nosying in the ditches, playing ball but she also loves a cuddle. She is looking for a home where she will be fulfilled both physically and mentally as her springer genes require.
