Roly Poly

Tiny Roly came into our care a few months ago after we were asked to help him.A year ago Rolys mum went into hospital and onto a nursing home. Roly was left "home alone" with his cat brother, relying on a family member to come in once a day to feed him and let him out into the garden. That was only meant to be a temporary arrangement until Rolys mum could come home but the months turned into more months until it was nearly a year that Roly had been living this way.

When Roly arrived into our care he sat in his room and told us, in no uncertain terms, that he wasn't ready to be friends. We could hardly blame him due to his isolation over the last year. But, slowly he started to melt and became our best friend.

Roly is 7.5 years old and, while small in stature, has the biggest heart and personality. He is house trained, walks well on the lead and, once he knows you, is the most loyal and loving little boy. He gets on fine with other dogs, once he is introduced to them properly and they respect him, but he does like to think he is the boss.

Whilst Roly is super affectionate it can take him a little while to warm to strangers but once he does it's for life. Roly is most definitely everyones favourite at Heathlawn and he is never short of a lap to sit on during tea and lunch breaks, dare we refuse him.

We feel that a home without children is best suited for Roly (teenagers up) and a home where he can have lots of human company, though he can be left alone for a few hours without problem. We are so hopeful, for Roly, that he will find his perfect forever home as he deserves nothing less, even though we know that there will be lots of tears the day he does.
