Spuddie
Reserved
Two weeks ago Spuddie was picked up straying on the streets of Galway. Only about 8 weeks old he was full of fleas and worms. We put up a foster appeal and a few hours later this little chap was safely in a foster home with first time fosterers Ben and Maria (welcome). They have been giving Spuddie all the love, care and comfort he should have had all along, getting him used to home comforts and all that goes with being a cherished dog.
Spuddie has now started his vaccinations and we are opening up applications for his forever home. His foster mum Maria says:-
"He is a gentle, intelligent little pup who loves his naps but comes to life with playful energy when awake. He enjoys exploring the garden, sniffing out every corner, and happily playing with his toys. A fast learner, he already knows how to sit—especially for food—and he is doing very well with toilet training (always going outside for poo and quickly improving with pee, thanks to rewards). Like all puppies, he is teething and may sometimes give small bites that can hurt, but it is never intentional and he is learning every day. He is affectionate, curious, and eager to learn, and will make a wonderful companion for his future family ❤️🐶."
Spuddie loves human company and at this young age and needs a home where there is someone at home all day as he is quite needy (They do grow more independent as they age, a bit like kids🤣).
While he doesn't currently lives with another dog, he is sociable and, due to his age, he should and could adapt to living with cats. There is no reason why Spuddie cannot live with another dog or respectful children pending a meet and greet, though puppies this age do tend to use fingers, toes and ankles as their teething post so small children may find that a little too painful (we do as adults).
Spuddies new humans must be willing to continue with his training (toilet, lead and socialising) and as we believe him to be a Spaniel x he will need both physical and mental stimulation to keep him happy and balanced as he grows. A fully secure garden is required.
In compliance with DAFM legislation, the GalwaySPCA unique certificate number is GPT200022C.
