Shea

Shea is another of our beautiful dogs who continues to be overlooked and who is struggling with kennel life so our staff gave Shea a morning out where, just for that time, she could forget that she is a "rescue dog", a "kennel dog" and so far an "unwanted dog".

We are blessed to have the amazing Cafe Gordons and B&B 10 mins from our sanctuary. Run by the equally amazing Caroline and her team who are not just Dog Friendly but Dog Lovers!! A place where we can bring our dogs for a break away from the norm of kennel life. A place where they are welcomed with warm smiles, kind hearts and, of course, Sausages. It also gives us a chance to see the dogs out in public and see how they behave.

Shea passed with flying colors.
*She travels perfectly in the car
*She greets everyone with her gentleness and kindness
*She had the most perfect tables idea manners, lying beside the table quietly, no begging, no moving just happy to relax and take it all in her stride

To the other diners and staff Shea was "just a dog" with no labels and no stigma. She proved herself so worthy of finding her forever home and humans.

Shea is a 3.5 year old GSD who has the biggest heart filled with love. We will continue to advocate for her in the hope we can find her that home where she can share that love.

Shea would be best suited, at the moment, as the only dog in the home while she adjusts to family life and her humans can focus solely on her. We see no reason why Shea cannot live with respectful children as she shows them such a lovely warm welcome when she meets them on her walks.

She needs an indoor home with a fully secure garden.

Help us to help Shea find the forever home she truly deserves.
As always thanks to Caroline and her team for always accommodating us and our dogs. We truly appreciate your hospitality.

February 2026***

While beautiful Shea still waits for her human match to find her we continue to give this girl as much stimulation as we can to relieve her of kennel stress and boredom.

Being an intelligent Shepherd, Shea loves having a job and so over the last couple of weeks Alannah, from our team, and Shea have taken up Canicross running. They are doing amazingly well together considering they are both new to it with Shea, and Alannah, learning more with each run. Great teamwork Ladies ❤️

January 2026***

Here we go again promoting our fabulous German Shepherd girl, Shea, in the hope that she will catch the eye of her perfect human match.

At 3.5 years old Shea is just the kindest, sweetest girl who is sadly struggling in kennels. A highly intelligent girl who just wants to please and show her human just how loyal and living she truly is.

Shea is looking for a home as an only dog for now while she settles into home life. A fully secure garden is required, as is is for all our dogs, as well as living indoors as part of the family.

Shea loves adventures, hikes ,training and most of all cuddles and chill time on the sofa.

Not everyone can adopt but everyone can share.

December 2025***

We sent our beautiful girl Shea off to Pacos Den for some one to one time and she obviously got into the bag of Christmas accessories and had a great time dressing up before having a snooze on the couch.

**

Shea's story started when she was bought 3.5 years ago as a "pup". She has spent most of her life in the one place before being "given" to a local man who, after a very short time was up at our sanctuary (without the dog) asking if we could take her (and 2 bischons). On that day we had zero kennel space so instead asked that he wait and send on photos to our kennel manager, which he did.

Then a couple of weeks ago late at night, our kennel manager received a phone call from a member of the public who had nearly run over a German Shepherd dog on the Poolboy Bog road that was running in the rain and dark and we arranged to meet him at our kennels half an hour later. Shea's third owner (the man who arrived to our sanctuary) obviously couldn't wait for us to arrange a kennel and just handed her over to a man in Ballinasloe town, who for a few days , who became Sheas 4th owner. And we became her 5th. The difference now is that we will make sure that Shea gets a home where she will never be passed around like an old car ever again. It stops here !

Shea is now ready to find her forever home. She is a fab girl, super friendly and, over the last few weeks with us, has settled down and has become affectionate and engages and listens more. She has been on trips into town, walks well on her lead, is clean in her kennel and travels well.

While Shea shows no aggression to other dogs, we feel that a dog free home would be best for her as, yet again, she tries to process another change. We have been informed that she has been around children and has been kind and gentle with them. We have no history of Shea with cats.

Shea now deserves a home where she can finally call home. If you are a lover of Shepherds, have the time, space and heart to give to Shea please consider our beautiful girl.
