Jake

Age: 0 month

Little Jake arrived into our care, just over a week ago, after he had been found straying and kindly picked up by a passing motorist. How this 11 year old with sight in only one eye was lost on a busy road is a sad tale, that is no fault of his elderly owner but the main thing is that he is now safe in our care and ready to find his new family.

Jake has always lived with just his mum and he was her best friend. They did, and went, everywhere together so it is understandable that Jake is a little confused about the change in his circumstances. But he is a happy chappie and has bounced back, especially now that he is in a foster home, and back on a sofa and, we hear, on the human bed some nights!!

Jake may be in double figures but he has plenty of miles left in those little legs! He loves the car and will happily go for a spin whenever asked. He is normally very clean in the home with one or two little puddles but considering the upheaval it is to be expected. Jake walks well on a lead and does well in different environments, country lanes and busier venues. He has a happy greeting for everyone he meets.

Jake attended our Dog Show last week and was well behaved around all the other dogs but being a typical terrier, especially an older man, has no problem telling the too boisterous dogs in his face to "back off", otherwise is happy to mind his own business. Of course, he does have a soft spot for the lady dogs.

While Jake may be blind in one eye but it is no disadvantage to him. He can see a biscuit crumb drop before you do and, at times, seems a little deaf....well, so he says !! Older dogs make absolute amazing pets.

Adopting an older dog may seem like you are bringing heartache at their loss into your life sooner rather than later but life is a gamble, at the best of times. Jake is a very special little boy who has so much love to give and many adventures yet to take part in.

Could Jake be your new best friend?
