Drakey

Drakey arrived to us in the middle of June this year (101 days ago) .

He had originally been found straying on the roads ,taken in and then basically left to his devices ...left out in a back garden and at times locked in the shed .

Now maybe this person thought they had done a good thing by rescuing Drakey off the road and that's true but to then just discard the dog for 2 years after because you dont have the time,he is too big etc is not good .

So Drakey arrived into our care with little in any manners or boundaries ..(also a very matted coat)

Not his fault ..

He had become a product of the enviroment he had been left living in and now it was left to us to "undo" all that ...

Clearly a boy who had been dealt a tough enough hand in life by having his needs and wants ignored ,whether through ignorance or not .

The one thing Drakey had upon arrival and he still has today is his amazing big heart and his capacity to love everyone ...

It shines through all day ,every day .

Drakey is approx 3/3.5 years old and possibly has some husky /collie /old English in his dna.

A bouncy, energetic but also chilled boy who loves nothing more than getting out and about on walks/hikes/adventures.Who loves a run around ,loves a play but who then becomes the biggest snugglebug as he cuddles up on the sofa beside us for some chilling.

Drakey has seen very little of the world but on a trip to our local marina snd castle grounds last week did so so well .

Cars and traffic in general dont bother him ...

People...he just wants to say hi ...

The only issue Drakey still needs to work on is his slight reaction to other dogs coming up too close ..he will ignore them from the distance but can react when he feels threatened in his space (its a fear thing) ...

Drakey has done some great training sessions both with an experienced dog trainer and daily with some members of our staff..

He is bright ,bubbly and intelligent and loves to work his mind ...

He has also made great progress on his lead walking ...

He loves the car and loves being with his human friends .

Drakey is fully housetrained and never toilets in his kennel .

Unfortunately Drakey is now finding kennel life somewhat frustrating ...

Despite our team making sure Drakey gets out and about every day on longer walks ,he is starting to struggle with the confinement of nearly 23 hrs a day in kennels...he has started to shred his bedding ,pace the floor ...all signs of a dog starting to feel the pressure .

We are now hoping that Drakey can find his forever home with your help by sharing or even filling out an application form if you feel you meet Drakeys criteria.

*Someone at home most of the day ...he loves the company .

*Someone willing to continue with Drakeys basic trainning which he loves .

*Someone with a love of the outdoors ..Drakey would love getting out there on long walks,up mountains and anywhere hos human is going .

*We feel at this moment in time ,Drakey will need to be the only dog in the home as he continues to develop and learn .

*A home where his humans will have the time and schedule to give Drakey the right start...

*No other small animals in the home at this present time as we do not know how Drakey is around cats/guinea pigs etc .

*No small children as he can be a little excitable at times.

*A fully secure garden .

What Drakey will bring into your life cannot be bought . He will be loyal loving, fun and oh so very grateful .
