Wotsit
Under Assessment
2 of the dogs that arrived when 6 dogs were dumped in 48 hours were Quaver and her pup, Wotsit. At first, it looked like the man standing in our carpark holding a small hamster cage contained a hamster, guinea pig or gerbil. But no, somehow he had managed to squeeze both mum and pup into a tiny little crate and, while that was bad enough, he could see absolutely nothing wrong in doing so, but considering his father was caught on our CCTV cameras last year throwing two saluki pups with ricketts over our 10ft fence onto our fields (Tweedledum and Tweedledee) then maybe we shouldn't be surprised, Despite making statements, sending in the CCTV footage no case was ever brought to court as it was deemed not important enough by the DPP office and the public wonder why rescues can't get justice.
10 week old pup Wotsit was terrified of any human and remains a work in progress. It is a sad sight to see such fear in a pup so young.
As usual we were faced with a dilemma. Say no and we knew that cage was going to be dumped at our gate or on our laneway on the way out. Say yes and face try to find a space this little family could safely live in. It's not as easy as you may think to find space in an already overwhelmed rescue. But we finally did.
Another late night for our team.
Another dent in our faith in humans.
Another two dogs to care for physically and financially.
But here they are safe, warm, fed and loved by us until the time is right is find them their forever homes.
