Sandy
Since arriving back into our care from the home he was in, we think it is safe to say that everybody is in love with Sandy. We don't think there is a kinder, more gentle, easy, more loving dog. And whilst we have had some lovely applications in for Sandy we really, really need to ensure that this time around 9 year old Sandy will be homed forever.
Here are a few reasons why we are a little hesitant about where Sandy goes.
*Sandy was returned for barking (loud and often). The reason Sandy barks is a) if he hears lots of noises outside or b) if he can hear you but not see you (so if you have an upstairs office etc).
For reason A we feel that Sandy will be better in a rural home with less noise/passing traffic/people.
For reason B we want Sandy to go to a home where he will nearly always have someone at home and where he will have free rein within the home so if he feels the need to be in the same room as you, then he can be. Even in a bed in the bedroom at night.
We also understand that this may not be to everyone's liking but Sandy has had a lot of upheaval in his life losing his first mum to cancer, then cancer and all that goes with this awful disease (appts, sickness) hitting his second home which is when we were asked to help. We then found him a lovely home with a family and another dog but Sandy struggled to stay quiet while his human worked from their office upstairs. So this time we have to make sure anyone applying to adopt this wonderful, amazing, funny boy ticks all his boxes.
Sandy is quiet at our sanctuary (we are very rural) and the only time he does bark a lot is when he can hear us outside his room but not see us. Oh and he can be quite vocal at feeding time if we don't deliver his grub fast enough !!
But what a dear soul he is. He loves everyone he meets, big or small. He also loves every dog he meets and was a great big brother to our recent puppies, letting them climb all over him, pulling his ears and grabbing his wagging tail. Obedient, housetrained, he travels in the car perfectly and can be left for a few hours once he knows nobody is hiding upstairs without him. Sandy loves his walks and is playful. We have no history of Sandy with cats. Sandy really is one of lifes special dogs but he needs a home that can offer him exactly what he needs.
Thankfully Sandy is quite happy with us and we are willing to wait for the perfect home for our very special boy.
** November**
Earlier this year we helped rehome Sandy, due to a change in his owners circumstances, and we found him a lovely home in Cork. But, sadly, we are once again having to find Sandy a new home which is so sad.
Sandy is a mixed breed boy approximately 8.5/9 years old and is about 16kg. He is the kindest, gentlest, most loving, trusting and chilled out boy you would ever hope to meet.
Sandy gets on great with all other dogs and loves people of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest.
Sandy is housetrained, walks well on the lead and travels in the car. He is a boy who just wants to live a peaceful, quiet life with no drama and humans to love him. Sandy would be the perfect companion for a retired/older couple or a home looking for a quiet, calm and loving dog.
Sandy currently lives in a busy area and is barking at outside noise or noises he can hear but can't see, so a more rural setting in the countryside would suit best.
Please help Sandy. We have no kennel space to bring Sandy into our sanctuary as we are well over our numbers during this ongoing crisis of stray and abandoned dogs and we know that Sandy would not cope well in our sanctuary anyway.
*As an emergency alternative we would also be open to foster applications
