Kitten Fosterers Needed
Foster Home Needed
We have welcomed the first, of many, litters in 2025. Kitten Season didn't take much of a break this winter and, while the weather remains very changeable, there have still been ample mild spells to encourage cats to breed.
"Bob", "Scoop" and "Dizzy" are about 3.5 to 4 weeks old and were found in a building site but there was no sign of Mum. They were taken home and cared for by a kind man, but they were only at the start of weaning and so he struggled to get any food into them.
With such short notice we turned to Amy, a vet nurse at Briarhill Veterinary Clinic very much a softie for a cute kitten, and we hoped their super adorableness would win her over, thankfully, it did! They are now back with our Cattery manager and it is time to find them a more long-term foster, at least until they are old enough to start their vet work. (Approximately 8 weeks).
Foster applicants will need to be able to attend vet appointments, at our vets, and be home the majority of the day to facilitate regular feeds and socialisation. Kittens this young still need round the clock care so a foster home would need to be able to facilitate night feeds every 4 hours for the next couple of weeks. They are also still very susceptible to infection and viruses and so would need to be kept away from any resident cats until they are vaccinated..
If you feel you can offer a foster home to our tiny litter please fill out an application form.
If you have filled a cat foster application previously and are interested in fostering these babies please email your name and number to info@gspca.ie.
A massive thank you to Amy and her Mum for taking such amazing care of them over the weekend, getting them eating almost independently and for getting us out of a bind!
In compliance with DAFM legislation, the GalwaySPCA unique certificate number is GPT200022C.
