Last month, we were alerted to a terrified kitty sitting on the windowsill of a building at NUIG. He had been there for over 48 hours and hadn't moved an inch, even when people tried to approach him. One of our team members headed out to safely rescue the frightened tabby and bring him to our wonderful vets, at Croí na Mara Vets. He wasn't microchipped, neutered and had no obvious medical issues. All we could do was wait and hope someone came looking for him. With some much needed rest, comfort and gentle care, he began to relax. While he's eating and drinking well and adores laps and cuddles he's still a little overwhelmed by the busy cattery environment.

Heathcliff is now ready to find his forever home.
He needs a patient and understanding family who will continue to earn his trust and help build his confidence at his own pace. He is incredibly affectionate with everyone he meets, but he's not the type to demand attention. Instead, he quietly waits for you to come to him
and once you do, you'll discover the sweetest, most loving companion.

Heathcliff could happily live as an only cat or with another friendly feline. We also see no reason why he couldn't share his home with a calm, cat savvy dog. He would be happiest in a home with older children who understand that he may need a quiet space to retreat to if life becomes a little too busy.

Heathcliff's ideal home would be as an indoor cat, with safe, supervised outdoor access or a secure catio where he can enjoy the fresh air safely.
