Marco

It has been quite the journey for Marco to get to this point and much of that journey has been figuring out what kind of home he truly needs.

Found all alone in Maam Cross, Marco quickly stole everyone's hearts. We were flooded with offers to adopt him, but the truth was that Marco wasn't ready. He was a quiet little soul who preferred his own company and, while he's come on in leaps and bounds, he has taught us that it's important to let him be exactly who he is.

Marco has been in a couple of wonderful foster homes. He got on well with Charlie, another kitten his age, but he was never particularly interested in feline friendships.
He can coexist with other cats, but he likes to be in charge and can be a bit of a bully if they let him! Any resident cat would need to be easygoing but confident enough to stand up to him. He has also lived with dogs and can tolerate them, provided they're calm, cat savvy and introductions are taken slowly.

Then there's Marco's biggest quirk...He is what we lovingly call "a spook."
Marco can be curled up on your lap, completely relaxed and soaking up every cuddle, when suddenly a sneeze, an unexpected noise or even a movement can send him darting off to his safe place behind the furniture. Sometimes there's an obvious trigger, sometimes there isn't.

We have realised that this isn't something he's likely to grow out of and that's okay.
It's simply part of who Marco is. Because of this, we feel that Marco is safest and happiest life will be as an indoor only cat in a calm, predictable home.

He wouldn't be suited to a home with young children. Not because he isn't affectionate
he absolutely is but because the constant movement, noise and the possibility of doors being left open could be a risk for him.

When Marco feels safe, he is an absolute sweetheart. He adores affection, loves curling up beside you, enjoys his comforts and has the gentlest, funniest little personality. Watching him learn to trust is incredibly rewarding, and the bond you build with him is something truly special.

We know that Marco isn't the cat for everyone and that's exactly why we're taking our time. He deserves a home that understands him, accepts his quirks and loves him because of them not despite them.

If you think you could be the calm, patient person Marco has been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you. We know his perfect home is out there, and when he finds it, he'll reward that patience with a lifetime of love.
