Oscar and Bert

A few weeks ago, we went out to help a couple of very sick kittens near Ballinasloe. What weren't expecting was other cats. We were told about two brothers who had apparently been calling for over 2 years since they were very young and a newer young arrival who had turned up with the kittens a few weeks previous. Despite having been offered food they were all painfully thin, their coats in terrible condition. The home owner agreed that we could take the cats along with the kittens to give them a better chance.

Unfortunately one of the older two was nowhere to be found and our priority was to the failing kittens so we asked them to contact us once he returned. Despite best efforts the kittens sadly didn't make it, they were just too far gone.

So our attention shifted to the two boy. Oscar, just a youngster, was in a poor state. His coat so matted it had to be shaved off, revealing how skinny he really was. He wasn't as confident around people as Ernie but you could tell he was warming to the idea of people.

A few days later, we finally got the call we had been waiting for. Bert had come back!
Arrangements were quickly made to secure him until we could get there to bring him in. Since then, everything has changed.

There were no medical reasons found for the boys to have been so thin. With good regular food, warmth and care Bert and Oscar have also blossomed and now they’re ready for homes of their own.

Bert (2 years) is affectionate, friendly, and loves a cuddle. A lapcat at in the making!
Oscar (10 months) is a little more reserved, but so sweet once he feels safe and will need help maintaining his coat as it grows back.

They are incredibly adaptable and would slot in to most any home given the time to adjust.
They can go together or separately although Oscar does like the security of other cats to show him the way.
They just need someone to give them the life they’ve been waiting for.
