Magee
Our beautiful older blind, black, labrador boy, Magee was up for some fun this morning. Once he heard the song we wanted for his video he very happily obliged with some serious dance moves.
Who says blind dogs can't dance?
Magee - proving rescue dogs deserve second chances.
Still waiting and hoping for a forever home.

Handsome, gentle lab boy Magee is waiting in the hope that somebody, somewhere will spot and fall in love with him. If ever a dog was easy to love then it has to be Magee.
At 9/10 years old, Magee as a stray and it was clear that he was blind, but this boy is absolutely amazing when it comes to manoeuvering around every situation. He has no fear and walks confidently in every scenario, in traffic, bogs on roads and in forests. He also runs around our fields without touching a hedge or a gate. He plays a great game with the ball and it is astonishing to watch.
*Magee loves the car and is the best passenger
*He is clean overnight
*He walks perfectly on the lead
*He is sweet, calm, affectionate and obedient
Magee has visited an eye specialist who has confirmed his blindness but sees no reason why he will require any treatment now or in the future. He is the happiest boy who loves humans and needs a home where he can be loved back.
Magee is a little afraid of other dogs in his space and can bark or growl if they come up too close, which is understandable, but he happily walks on by when out on his walks and is best suited to a dog free home. He would love a quiet, safe and secure home where he can have lots of human company and cuddles. A fully secure garden is a must.
Let's hope that we can make make Magees dreams come true by helping him find his forever fireside this winter. He is going to make the most loyal and perfect best friend.

We were asked by Offaly Pound if we could help an older lab boy who had been found straying. His mandatory pound time was up and he was struggling in the pound. It just wasn't because of his age that he was finding the pound stressful, he was also Blind. Of course, our hearts went out to him and we said Yes!
Magee (our name for him) arrived and what a fab, sweet natured boy he is. He had a visit to our vets the following day where his blindness was confirmed but we have asked for a referral to Natasha, the eye specialist, so we know exactly what's going on so we can have an expertise opinion for a potential adopter.
Magee has no fear with his blindness and is a happy, out going boy who is already finding his way around our fields off lead. He is also an expert at finding his kennel hatch that allows him to go from his indoor kennel to his outside area and vice versa proving he isn't letting his loss of sight stopping him from enjoying his freedom and life.
We brought Magee to our local marina to see how he would react to light traffic and some comings and goings. Again, he took it all in stride and spent a lovely 30mins sniffing and exploring all the new smells, passing no remarks on the few cars that passed and he definitely knew there were cakes available at the coffee shop.
Magee is approx 10 years old. He is a gentle and kind boy who would love a home where he can enjoy a secure garden and daily walks. He has some fear towards other dogs and will growl if he thinks they are coming into his space but that's very understandable taking into account his blindness but he tries to avoids confrontation and so a home as an only dog is required and a home where someone is around most of the day. Magee walks quietly on the lead and really is a genuinely beautiful soul who doesn't ask for much.
If you think you can offer Magee the home he deserves then please complete an adoption application form.
