Deefer

*CAN YOU HELP?*

Our gentle Staffie x boy Deefer headed off to his new home a few weeks ago and to say we were all thrilled would be an understatement. If you remember Deefer was found sitting beside a baby lurcher pup who had sadly been killed on the road and who refused to leave his little friend. Thankfully one of our team on her way into kennels came upon them and stopped for both. Everybody fell in love with Deefer at our kennels as he is the gentlest, kindest, most loving boy you could meet. But Deefer struggled greatly with kennel life and his cries of stress and loneliness could be heard all over our sanctuary, despite our kennel teams best efforts to keep him happy. He started to lose weight and his skin started to break out in a rash.
And then he was offered a home. But sadly, a few weeks on, the male dog in the home is still not happy with Deefers company and Deefer is not "reading" the room well and continues to try and play with him which is now causing friction. We cannot bear thinking that Deefer will be coming back to kennels as we know it will break him yet again and also, due to a high number of dumped and abandoned dog in the last week, we simply do not have anywhere to put even a Chihuahua at the moment.

So we are appealing again for Deefer and his forever home (or possibly even a foster home) and we need it as soon as possible.

This is what the current family say about Deefer:-

'This gorgeous boy has been with us for three weeks. He’s affectionate, goofy and playful.
He is brilliant with people, loves everyone he meets in the village and has been super with every person he has met in our house.
He loves his food and gets chatty when it’s nearly dinner time, he ‘woo-woos’ encouraging you to get a move on! He has his tricks, he sits and gives his paw, in fact, if there is a treat he will try both paws!
He sleeps through the night and completely house trained. He's very good at telling us when he needs to go out.
He is dog friendly but not cat friendly.
He loves to play, and would absolutely love a buddy of a similar size. That said, he is really independent and we think he would be great as an only dog too.
As is typical of a Staffie he is not reactive, he doesn't bark at the post-lady or at other dogs, he is a very chilled out guy.
Deefer is an absolute superstar and all around sweet boy.'
