Arcadia and Superbia
18 weeks ago we answered a call about seven tiny babies abandoned in a cat carrier. They were wet, cold, painfully underweight, had massive parasite burdens and were absolutely terrified. We rushed to get them cleaned, warm and started on the road we hoped would lead to a better life. We divided them into stronger and weaker groups so they could all receive the care they needed.
The stronger kittens went into foster while the more fragile ones stayed close to our vets and were constant monitored. But despite every effort, we began to lose them. Starting with the stronger ones, one by one, with no clear signs of illness. They would seem perfectly fine and then suddenly they were gone. It was a devastating and frightening time for everyone.
Fighting and treating the invisible force that was stealing them away was hard. Fading kitten syndrome. But with very little fading and a lot more sudden, their body's failing one by one each loss hit our team and their carers deeply. Heartbreak after heartbreak,
until only two remained.
Arcadia, one of the smallest boys, and Superbia, the last remaining female from the older group, continued their fight together in foster with our wonderful volunteer Rebeka, and her husband, alongside ongoing veterinary care. After weeks of uncertainty, they finally began to turn a corner.
They received their first vaccinations! We still remained cautious, afraid to hope. Then came time for their neutering and then second vaccinations. And now, after everything they have endured, they are finally ready to find a forever home!
Arcadia is a gentle, sweet boy who enjoys affection but will need time and patience to fully trust new people.
Superbia is more reserved and very much a kitten who likes things on her own terms but, in the right calm environment, we know she will flourish.
They share an incredibly special bond and will need a quiet, child-free home with kind, patient adopters who understand that love and trust may take time. We feel they would do best as the only cats, though they could potentially live with a calm, cat-savvy dog after careful introductions. In time, they will need safe outdoor access while still having the security of a warm home at night. These two have survived so much loss and uncertainty now they deserve a peaceful, loving future where they can finally feel safe. Applications are now open for their forever home together.
