Last week saw us welcome back through our sanctuary gates, for the fifth time, Mary and Terry. A nicer, more genuine, dog loving couple would be hard to find and despite having adopted and lost their 4 previous Galway SPCA dogs Mary and Terry return every time to give yet another dog a chance at having a forever home. That's how big their hearts are. Not every loss was due to old age so they really have been through the mill on a couple of occasions with the sudden and unexpected deaths of a couple of their adopted beloved pets.
But for Mary and Terry it's never about their feelings or their sadness. It's about knowing there are so many dogs waiting and hoping for a home and they never hesitate to offer again and again. This time it was our little tub of furry love Taisy who was the lucky dog to have been matched with them. While we chatted over a cup of tea, after their long drive down from Co Mayo, Taisy sat herself beside Mary as though she knew just why they were there and once the tea and biscuits were finished, paperwork filled in, Taisy trotted as fast as her little legs could carry her to the waiting car and settled herself down beside new dad Terry ready to head for home.
We hear that Taisy has settled in as though she has been living there all her life. She has met all the neighbours and friends and loves them all as much as they love her.
And Mary and Terry? Well they believe they are the luckiest couple alive to have, yet again, found themselves a new rescue dog to shower in love and cuddles and we, as always, are so very grateful to our lovely friends for not letting loss or grief stand in their way of offering up their home and hearts to yet another Galway SPCA doggie in need.
You are amazing!!
In loving memory of Redmond, Quiff, Shallot and Krill who were loved and adored previously by Mary and Terry and are now at Rainbow Bridge smiling down on Taisy.
