In September we saw a Facebook post, in another county, about a lost dog, who had miraculously reappeared after living rough for 4 months with no sightings, after she had escaped from an organised Transport Run (pound to foster home) in May. The kind ladies who had spotted her were looking for the loan of a trap and we offered ours. The next day we saw that the dog had been caught in the trap and her days on the run were now finally over. Whilst we had not been involved with Pickles up until seeing the post about the trap, we felt now that now she was caught that we should offer her a kennel space and a future and so Pickles arrived into the care of GalwaySPCA.
She was the sweetest, kindest most affectionate little staffie x girl you could meet but one who was wary and untrusting after her ordeal. We didnt rush Pickles rehoming, in fact we put it on a slow burner until we felt we had 100% assessed her and knew what she really needed in a home as we wanted to make sure we had ticked all her boxes.
While Pickles was very sociable and happy around other dogs and had made lots of doggy friends during her time with us, we felt that she would really blossom as the only dog in the home as she definitely deserved to be the apple of any new families eye.
Enter Maggie and Andy who had lost the love of their lives Sugar, also a staffie x, they saw Pickles profile and knew that she was meant for them. And after reading their application form we knew it too. The rest, as they say, is history and Pickles made it into her forever home a few days before Christmas. We hear that she has settled in as though she has always lived there. She has had sleeps in the human bed, enjoys trips out and about, has chill nights with a movie and lots of cuddles and kisses. She has brought back the type of joy and love only a dog can and we are sure that Sugar is smiling down proudly right now on her Mum, Dad and Pickles, delighted that another lost soul is no longer lost and instead safe and so very much loved.
We wish Maggie, Andy and Pickles many wonderful, happy years together.
