Peal

Late one night, Ballinasloe, a young puppy (just four/five months old) was seen being thrown from a car. Thankfully, a kind passer by stopped to help and brought the frightened pup to the local Garda station. The Gardaí contacted our Kennel Manager who immediately went to collect her. What she found was a beautiful young puppy who seemed incredibly grateful to be safe. We named her Peal.
From the moment she arrived, Peal became a firm favourite with everyone at the sanctuary. She was a happy, friendly and playful little girl who quickly won hearts wherever she went.
Once Peal was ready for rehoming, we featured her on our social media pages. The response was overwhelming, with many people expressing interest in giving her a home. Among those inquiries was Mary, who was already well known to us at the Galway SPCA, having adopted a puppy from us the previous year. She was now looking for a companion for her dog, Pip. Mary and Pip came to meet Peal, and the connection was instant. The dogs got along wonderfully and, a week later, Mary and Pip returned to welcome Peal into their family.
Since then, the two dogs have formed a fantastic bond and are thriving together. They are enjoying their new city life, often spotted accompanying Mary to local coffee shops, exploring parks, or simply playing together in their garden.
Stories like Peal's remind us why rescue work matters. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who adopts one of our dogs and gives them the second chance they deserve.
