In April we received a call from 2 ladies who had been driving through Ballinasloe when they spotted a little dog running terrified through traffic, narrowly missing being hit by oncoming cars. They followed her up and down many streets until they managed to corner her and coax her over. Despite our Kennel Manager being on top of a mountain on holidays she answered her phone to the ladies and set about organising one of the team to drop everything and collect the pup. Because its always teamwork that saves and changes lives.
Patata as we named her (the Madeira holiday menu came in handy) arrived as an extremely nervous and scared girl who had zero trust in humans. Two days after her arrival she became quite sick and spent a week in our vets A Country Practice Vet Clinic where she received the very best of care from the wonderful team there and thanks to them made a full recovery.
We then found Patata an amazing foster home with Hallie and her little family of dogs and cats. A first time fosterer for us, Hallie went above and beyond and it wasn't long before Patata was leaving her fearful past behind her. Patata proved popular when it came to her rehoming but there was only one Patata and we chose a home that not only ticked all her boxes but one that just couldn't contain their excitement at the thoughts of being able to welcome her into their home and were very nearly setting up camp outside our gates the very next day.
Its been a few weeks since Patata headed off to her new home and we hear tht she has settled in really well. She is loving her life beside the beach, her daily walks, adventures and cuddles but most of all she loves bagging herself the best chair in the house before the resident cats do !!
It is thanks to Mike, Marisa and their family that Patata, now known as Pip has a home and humans to call her very own and we are truly grateful to them for giving her this chance.
Also, our thanks to the 2 ladies who didn't ignore that day and to Hallie for giving her the best start in life as a foster.
Teamwork really does make the dream work.
