Nala arrived into our care after her owner left her, with her housemates, to travel overseas home promising to return but she never did, leaving 8 year old Nala heartbroken and her housemates in a difficult position. We were contacted by the landlord and, despite being under severe pressure, we juggled kennels to accommodate Nala. Nala arrived as a very confused and heartbroken girl who couldn’t understand why or how she had ended up in a rescue kennel. Her cries echoed around our sanctuary for weeks.
We always knew it would be a bit of a struggle to find Nala the perfect home. 8 years old, a bully breed and preferring to be an only dog. It took us 132 days (4.5 months) to find Nala that perfect home but it was so worth the, at times agonising wait. Gráinne and Alex came to meet Nala and we knew from the moment Nala entered the room that Nala was now looking at her new parents.
It has been just under a month since we waved goodbye to Nala and every update we receive from her Mum and Dad is an update full of love, joy and laughter. They are enjoying every moment of cuddles, adventure and playtime together and have many campervan trips planned together. This was a rehoming that filled our hearts with so much joy because Nala didn’t deserve to be abandoned by her owner but our team never gave up hoping for this moment and we know that Nala will be forever loved always.
