11 years ago a young couple, Emma and Chris, adopted a very abused little Bichon boy called Buddy from our sanctuary. He was with with them all through their married life, he was there to welcome their 3 children into the home and he was loved so much by all of them. Sadly, Buddy passed away a year ago leaving a huge gap in the Featherstone home but he spoken about and remembered all the time.
In early December we rescued little Miu Miu as she strayed in a local school, completely matted, dishevelled, scared and longing to be saved. After being groomed and given time to chill, Miu Miu became the sweetest little girl who loved everyone. We posted her on our social media looking for a forever home. Miu Miu proved very popular and as we started to go through her many applications, we saw two familiar names pop up, Emma and Chris. They felt the time was now right for them and their children to rescue again and they hoped they were a match for Miu Miu. We felt they were perfect.
First they wanted their children to understand why it was so important for them to give another dog the chance and why it had to be another rescue dog, just like they had given Buddy his chance all those years ago. That by welcoming Miu Miu into the family was, in a way, an honour to the love Buddy had given them.
The rest of their story is evident in the video below and it absolutely warms our hearts and is exactly what adoption is all about. A video that takes us all through the mixed emotions we feel when we adopt again after the loss of a beloved pet. The tears that are a mix of happiness and sadness as they share the news with their children. The sheer emotions of joy, respect and love as they welcome Miu Miu into their home for the first time. And the difference one family can make to a little dog who didn't let her past define her future by choosing to adopt.
Miu Miu, now Holly, is now home as a much loved family pet and we know that Buddy is smiling down proudly on his humans for making a difference to another little dog who needed them as much as they needed her. Thank you Emma, Chris, Faridah, Ayda-Ellis and Reuben for opening up your hearts and home to a rescue dog. We wish you all and Holly many happy years together.
