Last weekend saw everybodys best friend McEnroe wave the team at Heathlawn that had cared for him goodbye ,as he headed off home with a family of his own.
McEnroe, along with 4 other dogs were removed from filthy, unsuitable living conditions at the end of April. He arrived scared and unsure with a coat full of matts and dirt that stank, lots of fleas and a belly full of worms. But it wasn't long before that little tail started to wag, those eyes shone bright and a permanent smile appeared on that beautiful face. It never ceases to amaze us just how versatile and resilient these dogs are and how willing they are to forgive the neglect and cruelty shown to them.
McEnroe became a firm favourite with everyone at the sanctuary and his happy demeanor was infectious. He was a bundle of fun and energy but was also a right little cuddler too. After a couple of false starts with his rehoming process (not McEnroes fault) we finally found him his perfect family and now know this was with who McEnroe was meant to be with all along.
The Mc Meel Family were looking for a new family member who could become one of them and join in with all their activities and enjoy being in the middle of it all. Well we had the right man in McEnroe and last weekend saw 4 very happy humans plus one equally happy little terrier head off to start a new life together.
There's something very special about those humans who choose to "rescue" and we are as always forever grateful that they chose us to find them their match.
It goes without saying that it's an honour to rescue and adopt because rescue dogs simply are the best.
McEnroe now known as Fozzie McMeel is absolutely loving life as part of a family and we wish him and his new humans many years of fun, love and adventures together.
