In January we took in two female Springer Spaniels, a mother (Lira) and daughter (Rupee).
Both arrived with milk still in their teats and it was quite obvious that both girls had been used solely as "cash cows" to pump out litter after litter for monetary gain. They were filthy, matted fur, yeasty infected ears and their white feet were yellow with urine stains.
Typical back yard breeding dog which sadly every rescue continues to see because there are too many people buying pups without thinking or choosing not to think about where they have come from. Pups without vaccines, microchips or history. Well this is where they come from, from sweet, forgiving, kind and loving mums like Lira.
Thankfully, Lira quickly left her past life behind her and at 6.5 years old started to look forward to the new life we promised we would find her. A couple of weeks ago we were able to fulfill that promise as we watched our beautiful girl head away home with her new dad Mark, a little unsure but we knew she was headed to a wonderful life.
Lira took a little while to settle in, having never lived in a home before, but with Marks love and patience she soon got the hang of how life works and now spends her days out walking, gardening and swimming. We also hear that she will be accompanying dad Mark on his road trips home to Switzerland for holidays.
A lucky girl!!
