When Hebe arrived she was one of the most traumatised dogs ever to come through our gates. Not only was her trust broken but so was her spirit and, even worse, so was her heart. Passed from pillar to post in the first 18 months of her life and with each stealing another piece of her belief in humans until we rescued a quivering, terrified, untrusting girl from a backyard shed.
Hebe spent a total of 2 years and 3 months in our care. That is 831 days, all because she couldn't let go of the demons she carried in her head from her past life which made her a difficult dog to rehome. But we didn't want to be more humans to let her down, so we kept believing that one day we would find that extra special home and extra special humans to understand her.
On Christmas Eve all Hebe's dreams came true. Jayne and Paul are long time, very experienced fosterers for Galway SPCA with a love for the "underdog" especially a bully breed who already have the odds stacked against them simply because of the way they look.
Hebe will never be "perfect", she will never fully let go of her nightmares but she is now a happier, more confident, loving, playful girl who is enjoying life. We are absolutely delighted to be able to tell you that Hebe is now a "forever dog" in a "forever home" with a "forever family".
Thanks to Jayne and Paul who saw past Hebe's past and were willing to give her a future. We are eternally grateful to you both
