Cara

Little Cara was found wandering on rural laneways and fields by a member of the public, in April.
No Collar.
No Chip.
No Callers.
A scared and nervous little girl who had obviously seen the darker side of humanity despite was less than a year old. So, we set about to fix that.

Enter Clíona and her mum Fionnuala. Clíona has been a long time volunteer here at our kennels, at Heathlawn, and many years ago she and her family adopted a little terrier boy, who they named Misneach. Sadly, Misneach passed away due to old age a couple of months ago and, while Cliona and her mum missed him terribly, they missed having a dog in their hearts and home even more and so their need to help another little dog who had nobody has always been their focus point.

Enter Cara. Cara needed a foster home where she could learn to trust and love. Clíona and Fionnghuala needed a dog to share their home and love with. So Cara headed off to foster.

Sadly, last week Cliona and Fionnuala decided they could no longer foster Cara as fostering wasn't enough. They decided that she was to be their Forever Dog and happily signed on the dotted line, to make it all official.

For some people losing a dog they have loved dearly means welcoming another that they can now give all that love to. It doesn't mean their hearts aren't breaking at the loss of their old best friend. It means their hearts become full and start to mend as they learn to love another.

We are thrilled that little Cara now gets to stay with the two people who taught her to love and trust and we are truly grateful to Clíona and Fionnuala for giving her this chance.
Cara is now a happy, cheeky girl who knows she will be forever loved.

In memory of Misneach Breathnach who we know will be smiling down proudly on his family today as they start a new chapter in their lives with Cara while he remains forever in their hearts.
