Armada, now Lulu

Armada arrived from Offaly Pound after she was picked up as a stray by the Dog Warden and never reclaimed. Just a sweet, easy going, chilled, loving and fun Lurcher girl who loved everyone human and every dog she met. To us she was perfect.

Imelda and her family were no strangers to us here at GalwaySPCA . We first met them in 2015 when they adopted a beautiful Lurcher Girl named Dettori. Having lost Dettori last year to cancer, Imelda felt the time was right to adopt again. She sent in an application for another of our sighthounds but we just felt it wasn't the right match and promised to keep an eye out for the perfect match.

Along came Armada and after a week we really did feel that she was the one and so we arranged a meet and greet.

On the 15th of August 2015, Imelda and Brendan adopted their first ever Sighthound Dettori, renamed Indy, who made them fall in love with the breed. On the 15th August 2025, exactly ten years to the day, Imelda and Brendan (now with 3 kids in tow) adopted Armada, now Lulu.

Coincidence or not we are delighted to know just how much Imelda and Brendan now love the Sighthound breed and we wish all the family many, many years of fun and adventures together.
Give a Sighthound a chance.
They really make the most amazing family pets.
