We received a call, at the start of May, about a very scared little Springer who had been straying for quite some time on Ballinasloe Bog. As one of our team arrived onto the bog they could see this tiny, terrified girl hiding under bushes. Keefah, as we named her, was underweight, scared and tried her very best to hide away in those early days but we could also see that she had the sweetest, kindest, softest nature.
We took our time and gave Keefah the space she needed and, like most dogs, Keefah soon started to forget her past. Once Keefah was ready she headed to our vets for her routine vet work and, not long after, Keefah bagged herself a lovely foster home with Amber and Colm. It wasn't all plain sailing in those early weeks as Keefah struggled with bad bouts of vomiting and diarrhoea but working together and with vet visits we managed to get her back on track.
Keefah really started to blossom under the love and care from Amber and Colm spending her days watching Colm work from his home office and getting lots of fun walks with Amber. Weekends were spent together exploring and going on new adventures.
Yesterday Keefah returned to Heathlawn for a very important visit, not just to say hello to her old friends but so Amber and Colm could officially become Keefahs, now Poppy, new Mum and Dad. We just love a failed fosterer and a happy ever after.
Thank you Amber and Colm for giving Keefah/Poppy the chance she needed.
