As 2025 draws to a close we would like to say a heartfelt Thank You to everyone who has supported our work here at GalwaySPCA in what was one of the hardest years to date with the constant influx of animals in need of us. But we got through it and helped and changed the lives of so many animals who are living lives they never knew even existed. That's what its all about and we couldn't have done it without you.
All the amazing people who
*adopted from us
*fostered for us
*supported our many fundraisers financially so we could keep helping those who needed us the most
*donated food, bedding and many other items
*shared and commented on our posts, with love
*found and helped the abandoned and injured alongside us
You all helped us through 2025 and, more importantly, you helped the animals
We leave you with a little video of one of our highlights of 2025 (and there were many). For 10 days our team gave up every spare hour they had to bring this young little Saluki boy to safety as he ran scared around the streets of Loughrea. For 10 days we watched in horror as he ran along dual carriageways, main roads, country roads, jumped walls, ran through fields and escaped death so many times. But our team never gave up despite always being 10 steps behind this wily, clever, elusive boy. They sat for hours with a trap, went out in the dark evenings and early mornings until after 10 long days they got lucky, thanks to John and his dog Milo.
Ronald Biggs (Biggs in kennels) life on the run was brought to an end just before Christmas Day, to which he was most definitely not happy about and protested a lot!!!
Our thanks to everyone who looked out for Biggs over his time as a "fugitive" and kept us updated on his whereabouts, especially Martha and her hubby, Tara and her hubby and of course our dedicated team. As we enter 2026 Biggs is starting to understand that maybe life with GalwaySPCA is not so bad after all. We still have some way to go with trust and breaking down barriers but for us, that is the part of the job we love the most, showing them we that we care .
From everyone at GalwaySPCA we wish you all a very Happy and safe New Year.
