Well Done Katie! It's over....
Over the last 24 hours, one of our long term volunteers set out and completed a gruelling fundraiser hoping to raise some much needed funds for the animals in our care, as a continuous flow the abandoned and neglected stream through our gates.
Katie has pushed herself up 3 unrelenting mountains back to back, walking in the sunshine, snow, rain and wind and completed Scafell Pike during the night.
To say we are proud of her would be an understatement. We are also so very grateful of her passion and empathy for our animals and rescue that drover her to complete this challege.
"THE 3 PEAK CHALLENGE"
Ben Nevis - Scotland
Scaffel Pike -England
Snowdon - Wales
We hear that she is nearly home (she lives in the UK) and we sincerely hope that she won't be in too much pain tomorrow and is feeling proud of her wonderful achievement.
To everyone who chose to donate and show their support not just Katie but for us as a Rescue and for all the animals who lives we change week in, week out, we are so very, very grateful to you all too.
Katie has managed to raise nearly €4,000.
If you would still like to donate and show your love and support simply click on the link below and know that by doing so you are helping us make a difference because every single euro counts when running a Rescue.
Thank You.

In just under 24 hrs one of our volunteers Katie will be starting her "3 Peak Mountain Challenge" in our name and to raise some much needed funds so we can continue to help as many animals as possible.
It has been yet another tough few months here at Galway SPCA with a continuous influx of dogs, cats, kittens and small animals all needing our help yet putting so much more pressure on us financially.
Katie knows this which is why she is heading off to climb Ben Nevis (Scotland) Scaffel Pike (England) and Snowden (Wales) as her way of "giving" and showing her love and empathy for animals and the work we do. We are so very, very proud of her and what she is looking to achieve.
So please, if its the price of your coffee today or a take away meal maybe you could donate those euros instead. Your donation, no matter how big or small, is a lifeline to the animals.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated. Remember, you are the difference.

**3 PEAK CHALLENGE
Most people will never see the side of animal rescue that we see.
The frightened dog tied to a gate and left behind.
The kitten found hungry and alone.
The injured animal with nobody coming to claim them.
The animals that arrive scared, neglected and unwanted.
Katie has seen it.
As a long-time Galway SPCA volunteer, she has been there for the heartbreaking cases, the emergency rescues, the happy endings and everything in between. She knows how much it takes to give these animals a second chance.
But now living in the UK means she can no longer be hands on (only when home to visit) so she sees the only way she can help the animals in our care, is by raising the much needed funds we as a rescue need to keep on top of the constant barrage of cruelty and neglect that come through our doors every week and sometimes every day at times.
So that’s why, on the 27th and 28th June next week she’s taking on one of the toughest challenges of her life.
In just 24 hours, Katie will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon — the three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales.

There’ll be exhaustion. There’ll be aching legs. There’ll be very little sleep and there’ll almost certainly be moments where she will ask herself why she signed up for it.
But when things get tough, she’ll keep going for the animals.
Warning graphic photos included...
Because every day at Galway SPCA, we meet animals who have nobody else fighting for them. Like Saluki baby, Misaki, who was found lying abandoned in a roadside ditch with the most horrific injury to one of her front paws, so severe she had to have her leg amputated at only 5 months old.

Or like our baby kitten, Vanilla Toast, found in similar circumstances, who also may yet lose her front leg as her injuries are so severe.

These are just two of our latest cases. Every day we are told of yet more animals in need and, sadly, we can only help as many as our resources allow. We are a small charity. We don’t have endless resources. We rely on ordinary people doing extraordinary things to help us keep going. This is Katie’s way of helping.
If you can spare a few euro, please support her challenge. If you can’t donate, please share this. Every donation will help us feed, treat, rescue and care for all the animals who desperately need it.
From all of us at Galway SPCA — and from the animals whose lives will be changed because of your kindness — thank you.

Katie, we’re so proud of you. Go smash those mountains and don't forget spare socks and a headtorch)
